THEATRE ETTIQUETTE

001. this is an independent writing blog for an original character by the name of ashley amaro. he is fandomless, and of my own creation. i have no affiliation with ralph macchio. the psds used on this blog are by : plutocommissions & villainsrph. caps were commissioned from spynorth.
i am affiliated with truthlie.
002. i use small text, simple prose, present tense, and third - person pov, though i will switch to first or second if that's what my partner defaults to. this blog uses beta editor. do not use fancy fonts, neon / pastel colors, more than three spaces between words, or overly poetic prose when writing with me : i have visual attention, and comprehension issues ; the simpler things are kept, the better.003. i do practice mains + exclusives. i prefer to write with one version of each canon muse i write with, but i am flexible — i do ask for ship exclusivity where applicable. i default to exclusive status for all muses of the following writers : alix, nelle, olive, nym, chevy, mary clare, lucas, briar, kim.004. this blog operates on a single - verse basis. if i choose to make any aus, i will likely strictly limit them to my closest friends, if not solely making them heavy - plotting only. ashley is based in a modern context, and is grounded in reality. i'm more than happy to work with you, though — and with some heavy plotting, i can try to make an au work, if needed.

005. ashley is hesitantly open for shipping. he's unsure what his sexuality is, and prefers not to label himself. he definitely feels more comfortable dating men, but he has experienced attraction to non-men persons before. ashley is written between 21 - 50, and is of legal age. any and all nsfw will be tagged appropriately.006. this blog is largely safe for work, and mostly light on triggers. however, the following may apply: child abuse, domestic abuse, alcoholism, substance abuse, suicide / suicidal ideation, self - harm.007. please tag imagery of nuclear explosions, tim curry's pennywise, and any real - life apocalypse theories (fictional ones are fine.) these are non-negotiable. i'm kind of known for my severe eschatophobia, and i'd like to ask that we can keep that exposure to a minimum.008. ray. 24. they+them. peruvian - american. est.
i'm currently a part - time med tech / part - time writing tutor, and aspiring filmmaker with my best friend. i love horror movies, the red sox, and the karate kid. i am a dramaturg and director in my career, so a lot of ashley's work is based on my own — he just gets to be far more successful.

summarised personality. ashley is a very introverted person, preferring to keep to himself whenever possible. despite that preference, he's very friendly, warm and welcoming. he doesn't quite have a large friends group, but those he does have in his life, he'd like to keep incredibly close. coming from a successful artistic family, ashley suffers from imposter syndrome, especially in the wake of his older brother's success. he never feels quite good enough to have made it to the place he is — to the degrees he has, to the positions he holds. he's very cynical, but rarely ever cruel, choosing kindness whenever possible. he suffers too, from persistent depressive disorder, though he tends to hide this from even the people he's closest to — never wanting to worry someone, or bring them down. he doesn't do the best job of it, however, a hint of melancholy bleeding into his outward personality.

biography

ASHLEY AMARO is in his 5th season as the artistic director and senior literary manager of then>NOW theatre company, and third year as teaching artist with the theatre at play. prior to founding then>now, ashley served as the literary manager for SCREAM STAGE, a new jersey - based theatre company, and as an in-house dramaturg for red hollow theatre company in new york. as a freelance dramaturg, ashley has worked with a number of companies across the northeastern united states. ashley is currently an adjunct at hudson university, teaching script analysis and musical theatre script analysis; he received his d.f.a. in dramaturgy from yale university. he'd like to thank the cast and crew for their wonderful talents and support, and would like to extend special thank yous to mom, dad, and big bro. http://dramaturgey.tumblr.com/ for more.ashley is the founder of then>now theatre company, which has a mission of presenting new and innovative works in rep with thematically similar classic plays. he serves as the artistic director of the theatre, and occasionally acts as a dramaturg for new works.he is also the co-founder of theatre at play, a tya company that works directly with schools to get kids involved with theatre from an early age.

THERE's a short story and a long story for ashley.
we'll start with the short story.
you'll definitely recognize ashley's face, but not his name. while his older twin brother has achieved success on stage and screen, ashley works behind the curtain — rather, in front of the stage.ashley is a dramaturg, better known as a 'script doctor', though he loathes that term. he works primarily with upcoming playwrights, helping to edit and provide commentary on their writing, as well as provide insights and historical background for directors and their casts. he directs, occasionally, with his theatre companies, though prefers to restrict his directorial roles to tya shows.ashley spends his weekends doing storytimes at the local library for ages 2-5, and in his down time between shows, works as a writing and history tutor for kids k - 12. he's currently teaching two - four days a week at hudson university, teaching script analysis i in the fall, and script analysis i & ii in the spring.between working for two incredibly different theatre companies concurrently, teaching, tutoring, and volunteering, ashley's social life has taken a bit of a fall, and, as an already severely anxious and borderline depressed man, living in his family's shadows, he's more - or - less hurtling towards a breakdown one of these days.

succession.
ashley served as the 'script doctor' for willa ferrerya's sands on broadway. they didn't get along very well, with most, if not all, of ashley's suggestions and recommendations being ignored, or otherwise dismissed as baseless or nitpicky. he asked to remain anonymous with regards to his involvement with the production ... he remains friendly with many of the cast and creative team.
